One warm sunny fall day, a mama cat had 3 babies.
Two were snowy white and the other was midnite black.
They were typical kittens who would sleep alot and get fed by their mama . They soon grew and began to venture around for themselves.
The weather was starting to turn colder and the scent of snow was strong in the north wind blowing outside. The day was filled with playtime and adventure for the growing kittens. While the two white ones nestled down for a noon cat nap, the black one decided he wanted to scout out the big red barn down the lane.
And so he set off by himself to see what he could find.
It was a long walk for little kitten legs and by the time he reached the top loft of the barn , he found a soft warm spot to cuddle up for a little nap of his own.
Next thing he knew, he was on the ground !!! He had falling off of the loft and was awaken by the sound of his own frantic meowing for his mama. The snow had begun to fall outside and the wind howled so loud that mama cat could not hear her missing baby's cries. The little one was hurt.
Both eyes were no longer working and his head didn't quite fit on his body straight like it used to. He coulc still walk though and that was a good thing and his sense of smell was stronger than before. He did find his mama and he grew and grew into the wisest most beautiful cat around.
He had a favorite tree that he would visit and say hello to by scratching at it's bark and fresh grass that he would roll around in and would nap with in the sunshine of his summer years. Remarkable was he, to have lost his sight and still feel his way thru the day . To keep his sweet disposition and thrive in the small pleasures of the everyday such as a belly rub in the sun, creamed corn for dinner, a stuffed bear all his own, and the people who loved him unconditionally as much as he loved them. Beary Black is resting under his favorite tree with St. Francis watching over him . Remarkable Beary Black, you will always be in our hearts until we can once again hold you in our arms.
